Aaron Carter

The loss of yet another musician is heartbreaking.

Aaron Carter, a singer-rapper who started out as a child performer and had hit albums starting in his teen years, was discovered dead on Saturday at his Southern California home.

He passed away in the morning after allegedly drowning. He died aged 34.

Around 11 a.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was called to Carter’s residence on Valley Vista Drive after a house sitter reported discovering a man in the bathtub, who was later identified as Carter.

The singer’s death was confirmed by family members of Carter.

Early in the new millennium, Carter became a pop icon with hits like “I Want Candy” and “I’m All About You.” Nick Carter, his older brother, is a member of the well-known boy band Backstreet Boys.

He opened up shows for both his brother’s boy band and Britney Spears.

He released his first album when he was only 9-years-old and made his Broadway debut in 2001 as JoJo in the musical “Seussical.”

Popular television programs like Lizzie McGuire and Sabrina the Teenage Witch featured him.

He participated in “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC in 2009, where he and partner Karina Smirnoff came in fifth.

In 2012, he also appeared on “Rachel vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off” on the Food Network.

On an episode of “The Doctors” in 2017, the pop star spoke candidly about his abuse of drugs.

He was in rehab that same year after being charged with marijuana possession and suspicion of DUI.

He lost custody of his son as a result of his drug issues. In an effort to regain custody of his son Prince, he occasionally checked himself into treatment.

“LOVE,” Carter’s fifth and last studio album, was released in 2018.
