As the lead singer, guitarist, and composer for the Replacements, he is an American musician most known for these roles. Westerberg started a solo career after the dissolution of the Replacements, releasing three albums on well-known record labels.
Westerberg has primarily been releasing songs that he self-produced and recorded in his basement home studio since the release of his third solo album. Under the alias Grandpaboy, he has also issued two LPs and an EP. In 2017, Westerberg published songs on Bandcamp under the name Dry Wood Garage and on SoundCloud as User 964848511.
Where was Paul Westerberg born?
The son of Mary Louise and Harold Robert Westerberg (1918-2003), a worker for Cadillac-General Motors, Westerberg was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Including Anne, Julie, Phil, and Mary, he has four siblings.
In 1987, he wed Lori Bizer, his first wife. Following their divorce, he wed Laurie Lindeen, an author and former guitarist for Zuzu’s Petals. 2014 saw their divorce. Johnny, their kid, was born in 1998, and you can probably hear his voice on the songs “Whatever Makes You Happy” and 49:00 from Westerberg’s solo album Suicaine Gratification.
Westerberg suffered a terrible injury to his fretting hand in an accident in 2006 while attempting to remove candle wax with a screwdriver, rendering his left hand’s ring finger numb.
