British-Iranian nationals Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe will be reunited with her family in UK after being freed from Muscat, Iran.
Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe will return to her husband and seven-year-old daughter, who hopes to show her mother new toys when she returns to the UK.
Where is Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe now?
The UK government has stated that Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe will return to the UK on March 16, 2022, and will be reunited with her family.
Both Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, the foreign secretary, claimed the British-Iranian mother and fellow inmate Anousheh Ashoori were on their way home.
What was Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s crime?
In September 2016, Iran condemned Ms Zaghari-Ratcliffe, a project manager for the Thomson Reuters Foundation, the news agency’s philanthropic arm, to five years in prison after accusing her of trying to overthrow the Iranian regime, something she has always denied.
Her journey began when she traveled to Iran in mid-March 2016 to spend time with family members for Nowruz (New Year), only to be imprisoned on her way back on April 3 at Imam Khomeini Airport.
