Narges Safie Mohammadi, an Iranian human rights activist who was born on April 21, 1972, is the vice president of the Defenders of Human Rights Center (DHRC), which is run by Nobel Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi. Before being born in Zanjan, Narges was raised in Qorveh, Karaj, and Oshnaviyeh. She graduated from Imam Khomeini International University with a degree in physics and afterward attained engineering certification.
The Reforms, the Strategy, and the Tactics is a compilation of political works by Mohammadi, who afterward worked as a journalist for several reformist journals. In 2003, she started working with Shirin Ebadi’s Defenders of Human Rights Center, where she finally advanced to vice president.
In Tehran, she was convicted of creating and running “a human rights movement that campaigns for the abolition of the death penalty” in May 2016 and given a 16-year prison term. In 2022, she was named to the BBC’s list of 100 Women.
In January 2023, she provided a horrific report from behind bars that details the torture of the women at Evin Prison, including a list of 58 inmates and the brutality they experienced during interrogation. 57 of these ladies have spent a total of 8350 days in isolation. 56 of these women have served a total of 3300 months in prison.
