Blavat joined the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame’s Museum of Radio and Records in 1998 after being elected into the Philadelphia Music Alliance’s Hall of Fame in 1993.

Keep on rockin’ because you only rock once is a statement that Blavat invented and later utilized as the basis for his 2011 autobiography, “You Only Rock Once: My Life in Music.”

He continued to be involved in radio, leading the Margate station “Memories” and the Geator Gold Radio Network.

The South Philadelphia native Gerald Joseph Blavat began his career in entertainment at the age of 13 as a dancer on a bandstand.

At the age of 20, Blavat started presenting his radio program, which featured his charismatic personality and captured the attention of the area.

Blavat earned the monikers “The Boss with the Hot Sauce” and “The Geator with the Heater” along the way.
