Where is Alberto Radius now?
Radius died in Rome on February 16, 2023, at the age of 80.
Radius, who was born in Rome, began performing in the late 1950s as a guitarist in the local band White Booster.
After performing with the Mario Perrone orchestra and the band I Campanino, he briefly joined the group I Quelli (later renamed Premiata Forneria Marconi), filling in for Franco Mussida during his military service.
Together with Toni Cicco and Gabriele Lorenzi, Radius founded the band Formula 3 in 1969. Under Lucio Battisti’s direction, the group enjoyed notable success for a while. He also started working with Battisti frequently, playing the guitar in the majority of his old-timey compositions.
He released his first solo album, Radius, in 1972. Demetrio Stratos, Vince Tempera, and his former Premiata Forneria Marconi bandmates Franz Di Cioccio and Giorgio Piazza all made appearances on the album as special guests.
