Sade, Helen Folasade Adu is a 63-year-old Nigerian-born British singer. She is one of the most successful British female artists in history, and her effect on modern music is widely acknowledged.
In 2002, she was given an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, and in 2017, she was made a Commander in the Birthday Honours.

She currently lives in the United Kingdom specifically London. Her solo performances of Smooth Operator drew the attention of record labels. Many of them came knocking on her door with juicy deals but she rejected all of them and formed her own band with a few friends and named it Sade.
She had become so popular by the time she played her maiden act at London’s Heaven nightclub that 1,000 people were turned away at the entrance.
Sade played their first US gig at New York City’s Danceteria nightclub in May 1983. She subsequently signed a deal with Epic Records in 1984, while the rest of the band did not.
