Rose Zhang, was born on May 24, 2003, in Arcadia, California to Haibin Zhang and Li Cai, . Billie Sida Zhang is the name of her second sister. Rose Zhang had a successful amateur career before turning 20 and declaring she was going pro.

When Zhang was nine years old, a family friend brought some golf clubs over for her father, Haibin. She curiously gave one of her backyard clubs a swing. On her third try, she managed to strike the ball. Then, her father set up her class schedule.

Since she was about 11 years old, she has trained with George Pinnell, a swing instructor. One of her best traits is her swing. The 2019 Junior Solheim Cup saw her represent the United States.

In the same year, Zhang was recognized as the Girls Rolex Junior Player of the Year. She once again won the award the following year. She finished low amateur at the 2020 ANA Inspiration (now The Chevron Championship), breaking Wie-West’s score record.

Between 2020 and 2022, she was the best amateur golfer in the world, taking home the Mark H. McCormack Medal three times in a row.
For Team USA, Zhang competed in the Curtis Cup in 2021 and 2022.
