The only child of Connie McHugh and aspiring actor Tony Tarantino, Quentin Tarantino was born on March 27, 1963, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

While his mother permitted him to view more mature films like Carnal Knowledge (1971) and Deliverance (1972), Zastoupil frequently accompanied Tarantino to movie screenings.  As a result of his mother’s 1973 divorce from Zastoupil and a subsequent incorrect Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis, Tarantino was transferred to live with his grandparents in Tennessee. He didn’t stay there for more than a year before going back to California.

A screenplay titled Captain Peachfuzz and the Anchovy Bandit, based on the 1977 movie Smokey and the Bandit, was written by Quentin Tarantino when he was just 14 years old and is considered to be one of his early works. Later, Tarantino revealed that his mother had made fun of his writing abilities when he was younger, and as a result, he promised never to give her any of his money.
