The 50-year-old Mary Sattler Peltola is widely received as an American politician and former tribal judge serving as the U.S. representative from Alaska’s at-large congressional district since September 2022. Peltola was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 31, 1973, and she is Yup’ik from Western Alaska. She was raised in the communities of Kwethluk, Tuntutuliak, Platinum, and Bethel. Her father Ward Sattler is a German-American from Nebraska and moved to Alaska to work as a pilot and teacher. Her mother Elizabeth “LizAnn” Piicigaq Williams, and she is Yup’ik from Kwethluk.
When the Democrat Mary Peltola was campaigning in the summer to be Alaska’s representative in the U.S. House. She went home to Bethel and couldn’t wait to get out on the river.
