American actress Zo Yadira Saldaña-Perego was born on June 19, 1978. She is the only performer to have appeared in three of the top five highest-grossing films of all time and is most renowned for her work in science fiction shows (Avatar, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame).

She earned more than $11 billion at the movie office globally as of 2019, making her the second-highest-grossing actress of all time.

Her first acting role was in Center Stage (2000) when she portrayed a ballet dancer. Saldana first came to prominence in the road movie Crossroads (2002) where she starred beside Britney Spears, but it was her work in a variety of science fiction shows that really helped her make it as a professional.

Saldana first developed a love for ballet while living in the Dominican Republic, where she also first fell in love with dancing. Later, she enrolled in the ECOS Espacio de Danza Academy to learn other types of dance.

She told Vanity Fair that she had given up dancing because she didn’t “have the feet” and had too much ego and drive to be satisfied with being in the corps de ballet. The family relocated back to New York City during her sophomore year at Newtown High School.
