Taylor Heinicke, a quarterback for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League, was born on March 15, 1993. (NFL). Heinicke has also played for the St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL, the New England Patriots, the Houston Texans, and the Carolina Panthers. With Washington in 2020, he replaced an injured Alex Smith in a Wild Card playoff game, and after Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered an injury, he started much of the 2021 season.

He participated in Old Dominion’s collegiate football program before signing a free-agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings in 2015.

Heinicke enrolled at Old Dominion University (ODU) in 2011 on a sports scholarship and played football for the Old Dominion Monarchs team from 2011 to 2014.

In 2011, Heinicke took over as the Monarchs’ starting. He guided the Monarchs to a 10-3 record in the Colonial Athletic Association that season, but they were defeated by Georgia Southern in the second round of the FCS playoffs.  He ran for 363 yards and scored four touchdowns while passing for 2,385 yards, 25 touchdowns, and one interception.
