English television presenter, broadcaster, journalist, and author Sir Michael Parkinson, born on March 281935 in Cudworth, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, passed away on August 16, 2023.

Sir Michael began his career as a journalist in local newspapers straight after leaving school. He also worked as a features writer for the Manchester Guardian, working alongside Michael Frayn, and later for the Daily Express in London.

He was a famous presenter who presented his television talk show Parkinson from 1971 to 1982 and from 1998 to 2007, as well as other talk shows and programs both in the UK and internationally.

Sir Michael received an honorary doctorate from the University of Lincoln and he also received an honorary D.Litt. from the University of Huddersfield in 2008. He was invested as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Prince Charles in November 2000 for services to broadcasting, awarded in the 2000 Birthday Honors.
