On November 1, 1993, Patrick Joseph O’Connor, a defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League, was born. He played his college football at Eastern Michigan.

O’Connor was selected by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft with the 250th overall pick. On May 12, 2017, O’Connor and the Lions agreed to a four-year, $2.46 million contract, with a signing bonus of $64,270.

He was let go on September 2, 2017, and the next day he joined the Lions’ practice squad. The team let him go on September 13, 2017.

O’Connor was added to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad on October 9, 2017. On November 29, 2017, he received a promotion to the active roster.

O’Connor was re-signed to the practice squad after being released by the Buccaneers on September 1 of this year. On December 31, 2018, he agreed to a reserve/future deal with the Buccaneers.

O’Connor was re-signed to the practice squad after being released by the Buccaneers on September 2, 2019. On September 24, 2019, he received a promotion to the active roster.

2020’s Week 14 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings saw O’Connor record his first career sack of Kirk Cousins, which contributed to the 26-14 victory. O’Connor participated in all four of the Buccaneers’ playoff games during which time they won Super Bowl LV.

O’Connor, an Eastern Michigan University player, finished his senior season with 42 tackles and 8.5 sacks.

He was known for his work ethic and had 166 total tackles and 20 sacks while predominantly playing defensive end in college. In 2016, he was selected for the All-Mid-American Conference team.
