Born on May 4, 1966, Murray McArthur is an English actor who works in theater, television, and movies.

McArthur has been in various theatre productions at West End theaters in London, including The Royal National Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe. His theater work has regularly taken him abroad (Ahmanson Theatre, Los Angeles & Panasonic Globe Theatre, Tokyo).

Regarding Murray McArthur’s portrayal of Joe Gargery in Great Expectations at the Gate Theatre in Dublin, Bruce Arnold of the Irish Independent wrote: “This is accomplished by the blacksmith, who is portrayed by Murray McArthur in the evening’s best performance. An important aspect of the narrative places emphasis on the endearing friendship between Pip and Joe Gargery.”

Murray McArthur attended King’s School in Ottery St. Mary, graduated from Loughborough University with a BA (Joint Hons) in English and Drama, and then pursued acting training at the Drama Studio in London. The Devon County Youth Theatre included him as a member.
