A Palestinian American stand-up comedian named Mohammed Mustafa Amer was born on July 24, 1981. Amer, now 41, the youngest of six kids, is of Palestinian heritage.
Amer competed in Houston’s Funniest Person Contest in June 1999 and advanced to the finals. He was directed to The Comedy Showcase by another comedian there was the greatest guided comedy room.
Danny Martinez, the proprietor of The Comedy Showcase, served as his mentor and instructor for stand-up. At the age of 19, he was flown overseas to perform for the US military stationed abroad, becoming the first and first Arab-American refugee comedian to do so.
