Gordon finished second in the 100-meter dash at the 2011 SEC Outdoor Conference, clocking a career-best time of 10.95 seconds. Gordon won silver in the long jump event at the 2011 WIAA Track & Field State Championships with a career-best leap of 7.20 meters (23 ft 7 in).
Gordon was named one of ten semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award on November 19, and the Walter Camp Foundation named him one of fifteen “Players to Watch” for the Walter Camp Award.
