Actor and producer Mark Alan Ruffalo was born in America on November 22, 1967. He started acting in the early 1990s and initially came to prominence for his performances in the drama films You Can Count on Me (1998) and This Is Our Youth (1998) by Kenneth Lonergan (2000).

He later appeared in the thrillers In the Cut (2003), Zodiac (2007), and Shutter Island in addition to the romantic comedies 13 Going on 30 (2004) and Just like Heaven (2005). (2010). For his supporting part in the 2006 Broadway revival of Awake and Sing!, he was nominated for a Tony Award.

In Wisconsin and Virginia, he wrestled in junior high and high school. At First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach, where he performed for the Patriot Playhouse, Ruffalo received his diploma. He relocated to San Diego, California, with his family before making his way to Los Angeles, where he studied at the Stella Adler Conservatory and helped form the Orpheus Theatre Company.
