Kolton Miller was born on October 9, 1995, in Redwood City, California. He committed to play college football at the University of California, Los Angeles, playing for the UCLA Bruins.
Miller redshirted his freshman season in 2014 and later made his first career start at UCLA in 2015. This came after Conor McDermott was injured in a match against California.
From that time onwards, he took over as a starting tackle. In the 2016 season, he played only the first five games before being injured in a match against Arizona. This resulted in him missing out on the rest of the season.
After his 2017 season, Miller announced his eligibility for the 2018 NFL Draft.
