Veteran actor Kevin L. Johnson has been in both cinema and television, but he is best known for playing Sam Dermody in Netflix’s popular series “Ozark,” which stars Laura Linney and Jason Bateman.

Johnson ended up playing “Sam” in every subsequent season, including the fourth and final one, even though the part was only supposed to last for two episodes in season one. Johnson will appear as “Eric” in “Florida Man,” a Netflix original series executive produced by Bateman, and will make a guest appearance in the smash hit “Stranger Things.”

Johnson discovered his passion for performing while a student at Clemson University. Kevin was expected to watch “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” as part of his newly declared English major assignment.

He was so profoundly affected by the spectacular production that he enrolled in acting classes the following day for the upcoming semester.

Following some formal acting instruction that gave the self-described introvert the confidence to come out of his shell, Johnson was able to audition for his first role at Clemson. Even though he didn’t get the part after the audition, Kevin joined the tech team and expanded his production experience.
