Jihad Ward, an American football defensive end for the New York Giants of the National Football League, was born on May 11, 1994. At Illinois, he played collegiate football.

Ward attended Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s Edward W. Bok Technical High School. Football wasn’t something he started doing until sophomore year. He started out playing wide receiver and safety before switching to defensive end as a junior.

He was named to the 2010 and 2011 All-City second and first teams, respectively. He also engaged in basketball practice.

For two years, Ward attended the Globe Institute of Technology to raise his grades. He participated in 7 games in 2013 and recorded 26 tackles (2 sacks, 3 for loss).

He played both defensive end and defensive tackle while starting each of the 12 games during his senior year. 53 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 2 passes defended, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery were all included on his stats sheet. He recorded a career-high 11 tackles, including nine solo ones, against the University of Iowa.

He recorded 104 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 5 fumble recoveries, 3 forced fumbles, and 3 passes defended in his last two seasons.
