At Oregon, he played collegiate football. Hanson, a 4-star recruit, chose Oregon over offers from other schools like California, Oregon State, Utah, and Washington State. Over the course of his career, Hanson made 49 starts; he missed two games in 2019 due to a concussion and one start in 2018 due to a targeting infraction the week before. Over the course of his first three seasons, he did not permit a sack. Two times, the second team all-Pac-12 was selected for Hanson. He was a pillar of Oregon’s offensive line, which was a finalist for the Joe Moore Award, and he allowed two sacks and four QB hits during his senior year.

The Green Bay Packers selected Hanson with the 208th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. On July 10, 2020, he was signed. Hanson had to get used to working in a quarterback under center during training camp as opposed to shotgun or pistol formations. [8] On September 5, 2020, he was released, and the following day, he was added to the practice squad. On October 13, he was added to the injury list and practice squad. Hanson and the Packers agreed to a reserves/futures contract on January 26, 2021. On April 18, 2022, he accepted the Packers’ tender offer to remain with the team.
