Ifeatu Christian-David Melifonwu, a defensive back with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League, was born on May 2, 1999. (NFL). He attended Syracuse University and played collegiate football before being selected by the Lions in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Detroit Lions selected Melifonwu in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 101st overall. On July 23, 2021, Melifonwu signed a four-year rookie contract with Detroit.
Ifeatu Melifonwu High School attended
In Massachusetts’ Grafton, Melifonwu attended Grafton High School. In high school, he was a wide receiver, running back, and defensive back. Outstandingly talented, Melifonwu also competed in track and field, basketball, and even played lacrosse for a season. Melifonwu made a commitment to play college football at Syracuse University.
From 2017 through 2020, Melifonwu was a player at Syracuse. Over the following three seasons, he appeared in 29 games after redshirting his debut season in 2017. He has 88 tackles, three interceptions, and one sack by the end of his career. He announced his intent to enter the 2021 NFL Draft after his junior year in 2020.
