Warner was part of the football team at Mission Hills High School. He was featured primarily as a linebacker and started for the varsity squad his junior year.
He gained a reputation as one of the best outside linebackers in his graduating class. He was voted the All-San Diego Section Defensive Player of the Year.
Warner also won the Avocado East League Defensive Player of the Year award and was also selected for the USA Today All-California First Team and the Cal-Hi Sports All-State First Team.
