The quarterback attended Midview High School in Grafton, Ohio where he was named to the Division II All-Ohio First Team and was a finalist for Mr. Ohio Football.
As a senior, he ran for 1,557 yards and 14 touchdowns in addition to completing 173 of 279 passes for 2,615 yards.
After passing for 289 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for a career-high 147 yards and a touchdown on 23 attempts, Crum was voted the 2019 Frisco Bowl’s MVP.
During his junior year, he started the final 12 games, passing for 2,625 yards and 20 touchdowns against 2 interceptions while also rushing for 707 yards and 6 scores.
Crum passed for 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns in four games as a senior, earning him first-team All-American Conference honors.
Due to the coronavirus, Crum made the decision to make use of the additional year of eligibility given to college athletes who competed in the 2020 season and extended his stay at Kansas State.
He was named the MAC Most Valuable Player in his final season at Kent State after throwing for 3,187 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
