Drake started his high school education at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute in Toronto but subsequently transferred to Vaughan Road Academy another high school in the same Toronto.

He chose to drop out of school to pursue his acting career.

At the age of 15, Drake was approached by an agent for a part in Degrassi: The Next Generation. Jimmy Brooks, a basketball player who was shot by a classmate and became crippled, was the character he played.

According to reports, Drake didn’t enjoy this character journey because it seemed forced. He had to force their hand to alter the storyline with a threat to sue them before they did the right thing.

The executive director of the California-based nonprofit Wheelchair 4 Kids, Madeleine Robinson, praised his performance in the series stating that “he inspired confidence and representation” in young people with disabilities.
