Dalton Chase Schultz (born July 11, 1996) is a National Football League tight end for the Dallas Cowboys.
Where did Dalton Schultz go to college? Did Dalton Schultz play college football?
At Stanford, he played collegiate football. Schultz attended South Jordan, Utah’s Bingham High School. He participated in basketball for the Miners’ athletic teams in addition to football. He hauled in 31 passes for 512 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior.
He had 76 receptions for 1,120 yards and 12 touchdowns during his high school career. In January 2014, he agreed to play college football for the Stanford Cardinal.
The Dallas Cowboys selected Schultz in the fourth round (137th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft to bolster their tight end depth following the unexpected retirements of Jason Witten and James Hanna. He was the backup tight end to Geoff Swaim and Blake Jarwin.
After Swaim went down with an injury in Week 11, Schultz surpassed Jarwin on the depth chart and was mostly used for blocking. He started seven of the eleven games he appeared in, including both playoff games. He had 12 receptions for 116 yards and helped running back Ezekiel Elliott win the NFL rushing title.
Although Geoff Swaim left the team via free agency in 2019, Jason Witten, who had previously spent one season as a Monday Night Football commentator, made a comeback to play professional football, keeping Schultz as the team’s backup tight end. Despite only playing in 16 games, he managed one reception for six yards and one kickoff return for five yards.
