Cory Anthony Booker, born April 27, 1969, is an American politician, attorney, and author. He has also served as the junior United States senator from New Jersey since 2013.
He is the first African-American U.S. senator from New Jersey as a member of the Democratic party.
From 2006 to 2013, he was the 38th mayor of Newark and served on the Municipal Council of Newark for the Central Ward from 1998 to 2002.
