Cale Gundy is a 50-year-old former American football quarterback. From 1990 to 1993, Joseph Cale Gundy was the Oklahoma Sooners’ quarterback.

He served as a member of the coaching staff from 1999 to 2022 when he quit after noting a player’s offensive social media post. While attending Oklahoma, Gundy was a member of the international fraternity Delta Tau Delta.

As indicated in the introduction, Gundy attended Oklahoma University where he played college football.

When Gundy committed to the Sooners in 1990, he was the most sought-after high school athlete in the state of Oklahoma. He abruptly quit late Sunday night after what appeared to be a racial altercation in a team meeting.

He claimed that he had no malevolent intent and that the offense was not his goal. Mike Gundy, the head coach at Oklahoma State who was fired earlier this year for using the word “nigger” in a speech, is Gundy’s brother.

Gundy released a statement after his resignation that read, “I am mature enough to know that the word I said was shameful and hurtful, no matter what my intentions.”

The event happened recently while the Minnesota Vikings were filming. One player was observed by the assistant coach to be preoccupied and using his iPad.

Then, picking up the device, he read a word that he now admits he “should never – under any scenario – have pronounced” off the screen.

According to him, he was horrified immediately after he realized what he had blurted out.
