Cortez Thaddeus Ham Jr., popularly known as C.J. Ham, a fullback for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL), was born on July 22, 1993.
Ham planned to teach and coach football and track and field after graduating from Augustana with a degree in physical education and health.
Since his first year at Augustana, he had worked as a peer educator, mentor, and weekly volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club in the Sioux Falls School District.
Ham is a Christian. He served as a leader and a participant in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Embrace Church while a student.
He spoke at advocacy events for kids with disabilities as a volunteer.
Ham, who had a speech impairment that had hampered him throughout his life, talked about how young people can succeed in life if they have confidence in themselves.
Throughout his career, Ham has worked on numerous Habitat for Humanity projects with the Augustana football team.
High School
Ham excelled in football and track and field while attending Duluth Denfeld High School, where he graduated in 2011.
Ham was a running back for the Hunters under head coaches Frank Huie and Chris Vold. Between his junior and senior years, he racked up 1,873 total yards and 24 touchdowns while earning three letters in football.
He made 109 tackles in defense. As a result of his successful season, he was chosen for both the all-conference and all-section teams as well as the all-state honorable mention.
