In 2018, he came back to Washington and started. In the 2018 Pac-12 Football Championship Game, he made two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown of 66 yards. For these actions, he was given the MVP award. Murphy declared for the 2019 NFL Draft on January 7, 2019, saying he would sacrifice his last two years of eligibility.
