Barrett Doss was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on March 20, 1989. During her childhood, her parents got divorced. After their divorce, she lived and was raised by her mother, Kelly Skalicky.
Her mother later married her partner, Veronica. The family resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for two years. She spent her early years in Chicago after her family relocated there. She later relocated to New York City, where she started her profession.
She attended Manhattan’s Professional Children’s School. She attended the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University following graduation. She started acting while she was living in New York, first off-Broadway and then regionally. Her debut on television came in 2013 when she made an appearance in an episode of the NBC comedy series 30 Rock.
