Baker Reagan Mayfield, a quarterback for the National Football League’s Carolina Panthers, was born on April 14, 1995, in Austin, Texas, and is 27 years old. Mayfield played collegiate football at Oklahoma, where he won the Heisman Trophy as a senior, after a stay with Texas Tech. The Cleveland Browns made him their first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
While the Browns were down 14-0 to the New York Jets in Week 3, Mayfield entered the game in place of an injured Tyrod Taylor. The Browns rallied to win 21-17, snapping their 19-game losing drought as Mayfield completed 17 of his 23 passes for 201 yards.
After Fran Tarkenton in 1961, Mayfield became the first player to make his debut off the bench, throw for more than 200 yards, and help his club get its first victory of the year.
Where did Baker Mayfield go to high school?
Baker attended the Austin Lake Travis High School and played Cavaliers football team as quarterback. In two seasons, he guided Lake Travis to a 25-2 record and the 2011 4A State Championship. He accumulated 6,255 passing yards, 67 touchdowns, and eight interceptions during his high school football career.
Despite being a 3-star recruit, Mayfield only received scholarship offers from Florida Atlantic, New Mexico, North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston State, and Wyoming. Baylor, Texas Tech, and Washington State also offered him a preferred walk-on spot.
