Annika Sorenstam is a retired professional golfer. She was born in Bro which is close to Stockholm the capital of Sweden.

Her father Tom worked as an IBM executive while her mother Gunilla worked in a bank. The couple had two children including Annika. She and her sister became the first pair of siblings to win over a million dollars each in prize money from the PGA Tour.

Annika Sorenstam graduated from the University of Arizona. She was scouted by one of the coaches for the university’s golf program at a tournament held in the capital of Japan, Tokyo.

She had excelled in that tournament and had caught the eye of the coach with her outstanding performance. The coach did not hesitate in recommending her for a sports scholarship which the University of Arizona granted.

She excelled at the University of Arizona winning several golfing competitions between 1991 and 1992. She became the first non-American to win the NCAA Division I Championship.
