Amy Laura Wax, popularly known as Amy Wax is an American lawyer, neurologist, and academic.
She was born on January 19, 1953, to her parents who were immigrants from Eastern Europe. Her father worked in the garment industry, and her mother was a teacher and an administrator in the government in Albany, New York.
Amy Wax is from a family of three siblings who happen to be girls.
They were all raised in a Jewish household in Troy, New York.

In 1975, Wax graduated from Yale University with B.S. in molecular biophysics and biochemistry. She then attended Oxford University in 1976.
She next attended both Harvard Medical School (M.D. 1981) and Harvard Law School where she had her first year of law school, in 1981.
She completed her legal education at Columbia Law School in 1987.
