Actor and martial artist Alex Mallari Jr. was raised in Scarborough, Canada, but was born in the Philippines. He discovered early on that perseverance and hard work pay off since he went on to achieve national success in competitive basketball and Tae Kwon Do.

His basketball career ended during his senior year of high school due to an injury. He then made the decision to enroll in the University of Toronto’s criminology program with the goal of becoming a lawyer, but this endeavor did not last long. He made the decision to pursue his childhood dream of being an “action star” while he was a student at the university.

Alex entered the entertainment industry blindly and unavoidably encountered some obstacles, but his perseverance paid off and he was offered the part of Hiro in Steven Seagal’s True Justice (2010–2011). Since then, he has worked on numerous prime-time television programs, including Robocop, The Strain, Nikita, Beauty & The Beast, and many others. In Pay the Ghost (2015), Alex portrayed an EMT.
