Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born in London’s Tottenham district on May 5, 1988, to an English mother, Penny Adkins, and a Welsh father, Marc Evans. Adele was raised by her mother after Evans abandoned her when she was two years old.
She began singing when she was four years old and professes to be fascinated by vocals. Adele, who was nine years old at the time, and her mother, who had already found work as a furniture maker and an adult-learning event organizer, relocated to Brighton, England’s south coast, in 1997.
Adele is a stage name used by an English singer-songwriter. Adele received a record deal with XL Recordings after graduating from the BRIT School of Arts in 2006.
Her debut album, 19, was released in 2008 and contained the top-five hits “Chasing Pavements” and “Make You Feel My Love” in the United Kingdom.
The album was certified sixth platinum in the United Kingdom and triple platinum in the United States. Adele received both the Brit Award for Rising Star and the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
Where did Adele go to college?
Adele went on to the elite BRIT school in Croydon after her stay in Balham. Among its prominent alumni are Amy Winehouse, Tom Holland, Leona Lewis, and Loyle Carner, among many others.
Her gift for singing and writing was found at a young age, and she is said to have initially fallen in love with the voices of Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald as a teenager after purchasing their records.
She began working on her first demo at the BRIT school, having previously learned the saxophone and, briefly, the flute before her father gave her a guitar.
Where did Adele go to high school?
Adele went to Chestnut Grove Primary School in Balham, London. Ms. McDonald, her eighth-grade English teacher, met her here.
When Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson asked about the singer’s early influences, the teacher was disclosed on the air.
“Yeah, I had an English instructor at Chestnut Grove,” Adele said. “Miss McDonald was the one. She departed while I was in eighth grade. She only had me for a year, but she got me extremely into books. I’ve always been fascinated with English, and now I write lyrics.”
She went on to say: “She was so cool. She was so engaging that we felt she genuinely cared about us.”
Ms. McDonald then began walking towards Adele, who was visibly moved, and the two embraced.
