Big Scarr, a rising rapper from Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, according to a record company executive. He was 22.

The rapper and music producer Gucci Mane, who established 1017 Records, announced the artist’s passing in an Instagram post, according to WHBQ-TV. The cause of the musician’s demise is unknown.

“This hurts,” Mane shared on Instagram. “I’m a miss you.”

Big Scarr was born in South Memphis on April 7, 2000; his real name was Alexander Woods. He supposedly acquired his moniker as a result of a car accident when he was 16 that almost killed him, according to AllMusic.

According to HipHopDX, his debut mixtape, “Big Grim Reaper,” which was published in 2021, is what made him famous. According to the music website XXL, the album included famous songs including “SolcyBoyz 2” and “Poppin.”

According to the website, Woods also worked on a number of songs alongside Pooh Shiesty and Fogiano, who are coworkers at the record label.
