Argentine professional football manager and former player Lionel Scaloni born May 16, 1978, in Pujato, Argentina, serves as the head coach of the Argentina national team.

He was a versatile player who could play either right back or right midfield.

His career as a professional footballer spanned from 1995 through to 2015 when he retired. He took up coaching after he hung his boots. His first job was for the Spanish club side Sevilla where he was appointed assistant manager in 2016.

He was appointed assistant manager of the Argentina senior national team in 2017 when he left Sevilla. He served in that capacity for a year until he was made the substantive manager of the 2022 Fifa World Cup winners in 2018.

As a player, he represented his country at the youth level(U20) 7 times netting goals. He was promoted to the senior team where he also recorded 7 appearances for the team.
