Cory Anthony Booker is an American politician, attorney, and author who has represented New Jersey in the United States Senate since 2013.
Booker is the first African-American senator from New Jersey, and he is a member of the Democratic Party. He was on the Municipal Council of Newark for the Central Ward from 1998 to 2002 and was the 38th mayor of Newark from 2006 to 2013.
Booker grew up in Harrington Park, New Jersey, and was born in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in 1991 and a master’s degree the following year.
He received a Rhodes Scholarship to Queen’s College, Oxford, before entering Yale Law School.
