Cardi B, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar in the Bronx, started out working in an Amish grocery store as a cashier before working as a stripper in New York City a job she initially started to pay for her education, but she kept at it because she made a decent living doing it.
Once she developed a significant social media following, Cardi left stripping behind, first making club appearances and earning cash as an influencer before becoming a reality star. All of the funds she made at those gigs, she invested into her music career.
