Bill Talbert also known as William Franklin Talbert was an American tennis player and administrator.

Bill reached the men’s doubles finals of the US National Championship nine times, mostly with his favourite partner, Gardnar Mulloy.

When did Bill Talbert start playing tennis?

Bill started playing Tennis in the year 1941 and was ranked U.S top 13. Talbert, who was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, still holds records at the Cincinnati Masters in his birthplace.

Talbert by dint of hard work also won the US Clay Court Championship singles title in 1945 and was a finalist in 1946 and 1943.

Before embarking on the international circuit, he played for the University of Cincinnati and won the Ohio State singles title in 1936 while attending Hughes High School in Cincinnati.

How many Grand Slams did Bill Talbert win?

He won nine Grand Slam doubles titles, and also reached the men’s. Talbert was enshrined in the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

He was also a Davis Cup player and one of America’s most successful Davis Cup captains.
