The superstar tennis Williams sisters Venus and Serena still enjoy a cordial relationship with their father and former coach Richard Williams.
Their dad has over the years committed several blunders that have marred their unique relationship in the past but they are still okay.
He famously left Serena hanging on her wedding day to the charging of the whole world. According to him he was too nervous to grace the occasion and walk his daughter down the isle.
Many have since considered this as an apex sin and very unforgivable but as things stand currently, it is water under the bridge.
Both daughters have enjoyed solid backing from their strict dad in times past. When Richard Williams’ daughters were four years old, he started training them.
Before they were born, he wrote a “78-page manifesto” outlining his plans for their tennis dominance. “I used to walk around with a placard that read, “Number 1 females in the world,” and a lot of people used to think I was insane,” he intimated in his manifesto.
Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena Williams, taught his daughters a hierarchy of values that they would never forget.
According to him, he taught them to put “God first, family second, education third, business fourth, and then just tennis in fifth place.” His mother, Julia Mae Williams, instilled in him the value of grit and fortitude.
