Larsen and his brother, Bill Larsen Jr., began their careers in television and grew up in a family of magicians. William W. Larsen Sr., their father, was a performing magician and Los Angeles defense attorney. Geraldine, their mother, was an early television pioneer children’s entertainer known as The Magic Lady.

Larsen’s parents launched Genii, The Conjurors Magazine, in 1936, and it is still in print today. The Larsen Family was named one of the 100 most important magicians of the twentieth century by Magic magazine in 1999.
