The plane of Roman Abramovich lands in Israel.
Even though Abramovich holds Israeli citizenship, it is unclear if he is on board. His presence in Israel would put the government at conflict with the US and EU.
According to data published by organizations that watch worldwide aviation, Russian millionaire Roman Abramovich’s private plane has landed at Ben Gurion airport after taking out earlier today from Moscow.
It’s unknown if the billionaire himself was involved.
Despite the fact that Abramovich is an Israeli citizen, his presence in Israel at this time may put the Israeli government at odds with the United States and the European Union.
Because of his strong ties to the Kremlin and vast riches derived from firms once held by the Russian government, Abramovich, who holds both Portuguese and Russian citizenship, is the target of international sanctions.
Abramovich owns real estate in Israel and is a big donor to Israeli health, education, and other institutions, including Yad Vashem, which has apparently stopped working with him.
Abramovich is unable to enter the United Kingdom, where he has spent much of his time over the previous 20 years, due to the restrictions imposed on him.
