Rex Ashley Ryan, a professional football coach and analyst, was born in the US on December 13, 1962. Prior to this, Ryan served as the head coach of the NFL’s New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. He’s worked as a coach for eight different NFL and collegiate teams in a variety of capacities.

With the support of his father, Ryan completed his studies at Southwestern in 1986, and soon after, he was hired as a graduate assistant for the Eastern Kentucky Colonels football team of Division I-AA (now Division I FCS).

Ryan was appointed associate head coach and defensive coordinator for the Division II New Mexico Highlands at the age of 26. During that season, the team topped the league in turnovers on defense.
When his father was named the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals in 1994, Rex was given his first NFL position as a defensive assistant, working with the team’s linebackers and defensive linemen.
