Antonia Eugenia Vardalos, a Canadian actress, director, producer, and screenwriter, was born on September 24, 1962. She gained nominations for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for her roles as writer and actor in the romantic comedy My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002).

She will serve as director and screenwriter for the third installment of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, in which she will reprise her role as Toula Portakalos.
