The idea of adapting the Sentai series for American audiences arose in the late 1970s, following an agreement between Toei Company and Marvel Comics to exchange concepts for adaptation to their respective audiences. Toei collaborated with Marvel Productions to create the Japanese Spider-Man television series, as well as three Super Sentai series that was hugely successful in Japan. Marvel and Stan Lee attempted to sell the Sun Vulcan series to American television stations, including HBO, but no buyers were found, and the agreement was terminated.

Narvy was raised in Los Angeles. He attended Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. He is best known for his role as Skull, one-half of the bullying rival duo on Fox Television’s children’s TV series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which he reprised on the franchise’s spin-offs, Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, and Power Rangers in Space, before leaving the franchise to further his education. He appeared in the final episode of Power Rangers Super Samurai as a cameo. He also appeared in the feature films Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997). On the sci-fi children’s show Masked Rider, he provided the voice of Combat Chopper.
Narvy played the lead in Men in White, a Fox Family pilot. He also appeared in a number of commercials, and PSAs, and voiced a number of toys, tie-ins, and video games for Fox, ABC, and Disney.
He graduated with honors from Franklin and Marshall College and Mary Baldwin College, where he studied with the American Shakespeare Center and played the title roles in Henry V, Pericles, and Hamlet. In a mash-up of the Henry VI trilogy, he also played Richard of Gloucester and Suffolk. Jason has also worked with New York’s Legitimate Theater Company, a Lower East Side company that focuses on new plays and experimental works.
