Our favorite Power Rangers lead Character is making headlines for all the negative reasons. According to sources, Austin St. John, who played Red Power Ranger in the 1990s (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series), has been arrested for being an accomplice in a defrauding incident recently.
What is Austin St. John accused of? What happened to Austin St. John?
In a press release issued on Wednesday (May 18), St. John, whose legal name is Jason Lawrence Geiger, was named as one of 18 defendants charged with defrauding the Small Business Association’s Paycheck Protection Program, obtaining at least $3.5 million in fraudulent funding.
According to the indictment, two other defendants, Michael Hill and Andrew Moran were the masterminds behind the forging of fake collateral documents used to gain access to the loan facility, allowing them to amass vast sums of money for their own personal use.
The 47-year-old first appeared as Jason Lee Scott, the Red Power Ranger who led the rest of the crime-fighting team, in the Power Rangers universe in 1993. It’s ironic that this is happening because, in the Power Rangers movie scenes, Austin fights crime, but in real life, he’s being convicted of fraud.
