American salesperson Travis Alexander (July 28, 1977 – June 4, 2008) was killed in Arizona by his ex-girlfriend Jodi Ann Arias (born July 9, 1980). On May 8, 2013, a jury found Arias guilty of first-degree murder. On April 13, 2015, he was given a life sentence without the possibility of release.

Alexander was shot in the head and sustained 27 knife wounds at the time of the murder. Arias claimed that she murdered him in self-defense, but the jury found her guilty of first-degree murder regardless of her testimony. The jury was unable to agree on the death penalty during the sentencing phase; as a result, Arias was given a life sentence without the possibility of parole. In the United States, the murder and trial attracted a lot of media interest.

On June 4, 2008, a murder occurred that day against Alexander. He received a gunshot wound to the head, 27 stab wounds, and a slit neck. Kevin Horn, a medical examiner, would subsequently attest that Alexander had defensive wounds on his hands and that his jugular vein, common carotid artery, and trachea had all been cut. Horn further stated that the back wounds were shallow and that Alexander may have already passed already when shot. It was determined that Alexander was murdered. He was laid to rest in Riverside’s Olivewood Memorial Park.
